It was strange and weird to transport back to my hometown, but even if it was temporary, I still felt this sense of profound history that was inescapable.
So much has transpired in my life since I left the small town life for the rest of my adult life.
Sure, I visited however it was always brief as I was so focused on work. But now, I’m looking after Sam during the last days of his life. Thanks to marijuana, Sam’s final afternoons are made so much more comfortable. The irony that he’s using marijuana is not lost on either of us. Sam was the guy that threatened me intensely when it came to my recreational marijuana use at the state university. That did nothing accept keep me from ever having him know about it. But cancer came for Sam plus the doctor suggested indica strains to help with the chemo. Of course, the benefits of taking medical marijuana were good plus Sam enjoyed the calm he got from it along with the reduction in nausea. Still, fighting cancer into your late 70’s isn’t simple plus that battle is lost; Yet, Sam relies on both sativa plus indica to help relieve his pain. But there are now many other meds being introduced now that he is coming to the end of his life. Still though, Sam entirely enjoys sharing some sativa strains with me in the evening. It’s sort of like the chilly beer Sam can’t stomach any longer. And while it’s so weird to be living back here, I’m so blissful that I am, and however, I’m even more grateful that medical marijuana was made legal. It’s such a comfort both to Sam plus myself as my good friend and I head toward the unknown together.
