I never expected I would end up working at a marijuana shop, but I like working at the locale where I am at the moment.

I have been working at the marijuana shop nearby for the last 8 months. I got that job when I met my bestie. My buddy and I went directly to the marina plus her mother’s boat was being gassed up when my pal and I showed up. I noticed a drop in sales that directly correlates with the opening of a discount warehouse. The discount warehouse is about 45 minutes from this location. The warehouse has all of the clearance and last minute sales on marijuana. Most of their products are at least 20% lower than the products that we keep in stock at the recreational and medical marijuana shop. The discount warehouse started advertising on the radio now. I heard an advertisement this morning when I was on my way to the office. Mentioning the name of the radio station gets customers and additional 10% off the already low and unreadable prices. With the way things are going, it won’t take more than 6 months for the big time marijuana dealer to completely shut me out of the business. My only choice will be to move my business to a different place where the profits are higher.

The shop owner hired a security firm and that place sends employees to different locations.

Each morning, we get three security officers from the agency and that;s our morning shift. Around 3pm, three different security staff members arrive to take the place of the morning crew. The manager of the cannabis shop, which happens to be me, has no real power to do anything with the security staff. If they don’t; show up for work, I call the staffing agency to report the absence. On Friday morning, I expected the security crew to be waiting for me in the parking lot like usual, Unfortunately, they were nowhere to be found when I arrived. I waited until 9:15 and then I called the security company. I was informed at that time that the guards were boycotting the staffing business by not showing up for work. We weren’t the only place complaining that security didn’t show up and the lady had no one to send me. We couldn’t open the dispensary until we had a security officer. I called three additional security firms, but nobody was available. We couldn’t open the dispensary that day until after lunch time and I never saw those same guards again at the cannabis shop. I assumed they quit or got fired. I don’t think they got what they wanted when they decided not to come to work that day. There are more than 100 men and women around here that will happily work for $18/hr without complaining.
