For twenty five years I worked as a long haul truck driver.

Most of the time I am with nobody else except my pet Mandy.

This kind of life is certainly not everyone’s cup of tea but it was perfect for me. It wasn’t just driving but also appreciating the open road and environment in general. This kept me learning all the way. I learned three new languages through audio tapes/programs. I also listened to hundreds of audible books. The idea was to keep improving my mind while driving. To make life easier, I also smoked a lot of weed in my younger days and took lots of crank. However, I consider it a young people thing now, which is why I focus more on using cannabis. Early last year, I retired from my task work and sold my old truck and used the money to buy a camper van. This time I wanted to drive, learn, and smoke cannabis for fun. I embarked on a Grand Tour & have spent a few years going to see all interesting places across the country, especially those best known for great cannabis. My Top-10 list of the best locally grown cannabis strains include Denver, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, & Philly among others. The aim was to visit more than the major metropolitan areas. I focused on finding the smaller town cannabis dispensaries as they sticked some of the most exotic strains no one else had. In case I get a passport, my focus will be to take my road trip to Canada. There are rumors that it has the best cannabis in the entire world, but until then I intend to keep driving the backroads of the USA, with my favorite and loyal pet by my side, not forgetting the fat joint of Purple Haze between my lips.

Last winter break I came up with a great idea.

It was a way to make a lot of money & not have to pay any taxes on it.

Since I live in a small town that is well-known for being an attractive travel destination for elites from the larger cities, we experience a flooding of guests each season. Every winter this town is flooded with rich folks who want to spend a few weeks skating. It hit me that there was an untapped market and I could supply them with cannabis for a ridiculous price. You see, in this state we have limited legalization for cannabis. Marijuana is legal in some cases, but you need to have the state-issued prescription card. The state only offers these cards to their own citizens, which means that tourists from other states cannot legally buy cannabis. But I can! The idea was to go to various cannabis dispensaries and then buy as much as I could. Then I would repackage the different cannabis strains into smaller bags, which I would then charge twice as much for the product. Since most of the tourists were wealthy enough not to question the pricing. They would easily pay sixty bucks for thirty bucks worth of cannabis. This translated to massive profits, meaning that all I needed was to find a way to buy cheaper cannabis if I wanted to make higher profits! This year’s winter season is around the corner and I want to cash in on the cannabis selling racket again. The only difference is that this time we will be much better organized as I plan to partner with a friend. I wish that the tourists would stay here all year around, because then I could make selling cannabis my permanent job

 

Cannabis delivery

The laws in this state are outrageous! Medical marijuana is legal, but there is a catch. One must have a healthcare worker’s prescription, as well as all of the state-mandated paperwork. Well, getting the right paperwork requires paying the state a whooping processing fee of $440. As if that’s not enough, this amount is renewed each year. This means weed may be legal, but still stressful to get. Another major concern is that while it’s legal to sell medical cannabis, stores are not allowed to offer delivery services. Well, this hasn’t been reasonable to anyone, especially considering how most of the medical marijuana patients are elderly or terminally ill. Although the delivery service we offer is illegal, it is a much needed one for the community who need and appreciate cannabis delivery. It has been said that it is the duty of moral citizens to defy unjust laws, and that’s exactly what we are doing with cannabis. Some of my delivery shoppers are younger people who simply enjoy consuming cannabis but many of them have prescriptions for medical cannabis to treat various conditions/ ailments. To such people, cannabis is medicine. It gives us joy knowing that we can get it to them. If we were a rich man we would happily offer the service for free. For now we still have to make money so we do charge for cannabis deliveries. It is a nominal charge, and my shoppers are encouraged to offer a tip for fast and friendly delivery service. We often get tipped in money sometimes, but other times they tip me in cannabis since most of the customers are quite generous. We cherish what we do, meeting fun people and enjoying cannabis, not to mention making a decent earning.

I love and enjoy edibles, although sweets aren’t my thing.

This made me avoid edibles for the longest time since many are incredibly sweet.

The gummies, chocolates, cookies, brownies, and numerous other yummy treats that are all too sweet for my liking! During the COVID pandemic, when no one could get their hands on any kind of edibles, I embarked on an experiment in the dining room. The idea was to make my own edibles, using sour foods instead of sweets, and have weed as a part of my meals! I had to begin with the basics & learn how to make cannabis oil from the weed within my reach. Anyone who has cooked with cannabis before understands that this means having to grind up some pot/cannabis and stirring/mixing it into the batter. However, this is not the best way to make potent edibles. Instead the cannabis needs to release all its goodness and potency into an oil, which is then used to cook other ingredients. Oil infused with cannabis transfers the flavor as well as the THC into the other foods, saturating the entire food with the marijuana taste & potency. I made a creamy seafood alfredo sauce, which was enriched with OG Kush as well as Purple Haze, all in equal measure. Besides that I also poured it over fettuccine noodles. The taste was heavenly and the result was me being so high and full afterward that I took a three hour nap. The only problem with cannabis edibles is that one bite too much will make anyone sleepy for the rest of the day. This is why I prefer to smoke my cannabis since it’s easy to regulate my intake better.

While it’s true that our town is problematic, it seems things are getting out of hand now! About four months ago there seemed to be a target on delivery drivers by robbers. In fact, a guy from Dominos got stabbed in the leg recently during his rounds! Soon after, no one wanted to do deliveries any more, and even the drivers from DoorDash got warned to only meet shoppers in a public arena and never go to a private address. Currently, I am working for the cannabis dispensary, & I used to be a delivery driver. It was the best job I ever had! Now I work inside the store as a security personnel. My work involves checking IDs & cannabis prescriptions cards when customers first come in. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back out on the road, but I’m not seeing this happening just yet. While I was unfortunate to get robbed, one of the other cannabis drivers did. He quit soon after claiming he had PTSD from the ordeal. As a way of protecting the employees of the cannabis shop, the owner stopped deliveries altogether. Customers can now access products through in-store pickup only. It’s only a matter of time before one of the other cannabis shops starts doing house delivery again, and when that happens I may transfer to get a new position.While I appreciate the cannabis shop, and the other employees, only driving makes me truly happy. I’ve thought about doing a black-market cannabis delivery service, but I cannot risk going to jail over unlawful delivery. I have not heard about this kind of thing happening in other towns, so maybe it’s just a local issue for our cannabis delivery drivers.

In the current struggling economy, I’m among those fortunate to still have a great job that works for them. Many of my friends are concerned about their jobs, and know they could get fired any time. My job offers me some level of security in this office. Besides, the pay is decent, the benefits are great, but the job security is the crown. However, the office can be depressing at times. I definitely don’t like it here, and if I didn’t need a secure income to provide for my family I would quit in a heartbeat. However, for me to keep showing up on time & doing all my assignments, a little extra help from cannabis edibles comes in handy. At home I prefer smoking cannabis, because the edibles tend to make me sleepy, but at the office they relax me the perfect amount so I can focus on my assignments. However, this is not a big deal here. In fact, being a little bit sleepy in the office is great. Oddly enough it has made me more successful at work. Since the cannabis edibles reduce my stress & anxiety I am able to perform better with my sales calls, which make me more popular with my coworkers. If I knew cannabis edibles had so many benefits I would have started doing this a long time ago. Smoking cannabis is for fun & enjoyment at home, but the cannabis edibles are used to keep me productive and happy at the office.

A few months ago I seriously considered punching my boss in the nose.

It is funny how I would be resting on the desk in my cubicle, and blankly zone out while staring at the laptop screen, daydreaming and planning on beating him up. While it was clear not everything was her fault, and she was just the bearer of terrible news, I still got annoyed. After sometime I was able to calm down & leave for the day, but I knew I had to make a change, but the frustration and rage can’t be allowed to build up, lest I explode. I decided to visit a trusted friend, Jim. He is the lead budtender at the local cannabis dispensary. The aim was to ask for some wisdom, then Jim recommended meditation & cannabis edibles, in equal measure. As usual, he was right. According to him, this is a holistic approach to self-care, and all one needed to do was smoke cannabis and meditate. Failing to meditate is equivalent to covering up the problem. I needed to enjoy the cannabis, relax, and then focus inwardly. This meant spending a few hours in self reflection white enjoying the gift of tranquility. It is obvious that finding inner peace isn’t easy,but cannabis made it a lot easier. After spending a few quiet hours deep in meditation, pausing only to smoke more cannabis, I automatically felt renewed & reinvigorated. Since then I smoke cannabis every day, and make sure to meditate every evening after work. This way I am able to release all the tension & stress before it builds up to toxic levels. Jim may be a budtender at the cannabis dispensary, but I treat him like a guru for all the great advice he gives.

When the children were on Springtime Break this year, we didn’t have enough money for a vacation, so I told them they could invite friends over for a major sleepover weekend. We figured that buying snacks, drinks, and other entertainment for a few kids is still way cheaper than taking a trip to the beach. My partner was kind enough to supervise them, ensuring nobody got out of hand. As all this was happening I slipped out back to the workshed, which is where all my cannabis and smoking gadgets are. Usually, cannabis is my go to choice of product so I use a lot of it, but never do it around the children. As such, hiding away in the workshed is the way to go for me. This is also in an attempt to ensure that the secondhand cannabis smoke doesn’t disperse to other people. When the kids had their fun, I was content enjoying my fresh batch of cannabis. As you might have guessed, the new strain of cannabis was bright green in color, so it tasted distinctly like bananas. I don’t even like eating bananas, but this sativa was absolutely delicious! This was when I heard the youngsters come out into the yard to play a game. One of the kids smelled the cannabis smoke from the shed & asked what it was. One of my kids remarked, “that’s where my dad goes to get high” My jaw dropped instantly! I had no idea that the kids knew I smoked cannabis. Clearly, it seems that my “secret” was not so secret after all. I couldn’t help but wonder if they would ever ask me about it, or if they had simply accepted it?

I knew there was one more marijuana dispensary in our area, and I had heard they had marijuana delivery services.

After finding out how long it took to get medical marijuana, I wanted to know how long it would be before I could get marijuana delivery services. During the first visit to the marijuana dispensary, I had to talk to her about why I wanted medical marijuana. I told her and then she recommended several things for me to try. She suggested I stick to something that had less THC and more CBD, but it was my choice. Once I finished talking to her about the marijuana products, I asked her when I could get set up for marijuana delivery services? She told me they didn’t currently offer marijuana delivery services, but if they did, it would only be in a very small area. She asked where I lived, and she shook her head. She told me the area would only encompass about 4 square miles. That’s only two miles in any direction. I lived nearly ten miles from the marijuana dispensary. She told me that if they ever expanded their dispensary, they may start going further out for marijuana delivery services, but that wouldn’t be any time soon. I was hoping to not need to drive into the dispensary all the time, and now that hope had been dashed. I knew there was one more marijuana dispensary in our area, and I had heard they had marijuana delivery services. I called them, but I got the same answer. They couldn’t deliver any more than in a five mile area. I either had to move into town, or keep driving for a while. My lease was up in two months, maybe I’ll choose to move.

The reunion was getting ugly & somebody just had to do something.

So me & my high college wife Sam jumped in her car & headed to the local cannabis spot.

It had been such a long, long time since I had been to the dispensary that I didn’t certainly know my way around anymore. For sure, there weren’t any cannabis dispensaries back when Sam and I were in high college. And the city had grown so much that it was now this sort of trendy, small city… Sam had stayed there so she was all in when I recommended some recreational marijuana; Cannabis products are legal for anyone of age here, and have been for numerous years now. But that’s not what brought me back to my house town. It was my 25th high college reunion that brought me back. The committee who put it all together certainly went out of their way to make it great. I was so impressed with the turnout & indeed, it was fantastic to see everyone. That said, it got boring so quick. And I was for sure not interested in being stone, freezing sober for a night of too much back-slapping. So off Sam and I made the choice to go to the local cannabis spot. It was easily so nice to spend some time with someone that I’ve easily stayed close with all of these years. Sam has turned out to be quite the dear friend. It was so much fun easily shopping for marijuana for sale together. When Sam and I were dating, my friend and I wouldn’t have known the right end of a joint to light. And yet, here Sam and I were getting a bunch of cannabis edibles for any & all who wanted to partake in them. Sure enough, it was those edibles that saved our 25th high college reunion.
