My best friend Jack said that he was going to be able to get his dad’s boat for the weekend.
I honestly didn’t think that his dad was going to give him the boat for the whole weekend.
His dad has a heart attack when we take the boat out for an afternoon of fishing and Jack was planning to take us all out to the cove for the whole weekend. Sometimes my friends aren’t always reliable. They mean well, but they don’t have great follow through. Jack told us that we were going to all go to the lake last summer for a week and the day before we were supposed to go he backed out and our plans were canceled. I took a week of vacation from work and I didn’t have anything to do except sit at home. When Jack said that he was going to get the book for the whole weekend, I decided to make alternative plans just in case the plan for the boat fell through. I was very surprised when Jack showed up at my place early on Saturday morning to pick me up. We went right to the marina and his dad’s boat was being gassed up when we arrived. We boarded the boat and there was a cold case of beer ready to drink and a couple of marijuana joints on the table. I love smoking marijuana when I go fishing. My buddy thought of everything including marijuana and beers. Even though my friends aren’t always reliable, this time Jack came through.
