As a kid I loved working in the garden with my grandma Ruth.
She was a feisty, sassy old lady who still grew her own fruits and vegetables when she was eighty years old. I learned a lot from her. Ruth is who gave me my love of plants, which eventually led me to study botany and agriculture at the university. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do as a career, I just wanted to learn the science of growing healthy, strong plants. My intention was never to get into the medical cannabis industry, but that is where life took me! Around the time I was graduating, several major medical cannabis companies were looking to hire bright young minds. This was just when medical cannabis legalization was happening all around the country. The demand for medical cannabis was growing by leaps and bounds, and they needed researchers, scientists, and botanists to keep growing the best possible strains. I got offers from two different companies, because medical cannabis was becoming a very competitive and cut-throat industry. In my large suburban home I still tend a vegetable garden in the back, just like the one Ruth used to have. During the days I work in a lab testing and cultivating various medical cannabis projects. Although all of our products come from the cannabis plant, we can manipulate them in many ways. Medical cannabis is very profitable, and my paychecks reflect that. I have to say I grow tired of the science behind medical cannabis, and I want to spend more time out back in the garden.
