Not that many days ago I fielded a phone call from 1 of the staff members at the community center.
It was after closing time so I was entirely surprised by the call.
I felt there was really an emergency, so I answered our phone. The call came from Bill, 1 of the overnight security officers. The security guard had been patrolling the grounds of the community center plus stumbled across a basket of cannabis situated outside the locker room doors. The basket of cannabis was not from a local dealer. It was packaged in a basket that had come directly from a marijuana dispensary. I told Bill to bring the cannabis product to our office the next afternoon. I contacted the dispensary that sold this product however they would not provide myself and others any information about the buyer. I decided to hand over the evidence to the local police department. The police department asked me about the staff members that found the basket of marijuana. They wanted to bring this dude in for questioning. When I told the security officer, he agreed to go to the police station a couple of days later. The police officers never contacted our security officer about the marijuana! Clearly they are not taking the weed problem seriously. If I had called them because there was vandalism or a break-in, would they still move so slowly to catch the perpetrator? I have hundreds of people here every single afternoon after school plus I take cannabis as seriously as I would alcohol or any other kind of drug. I don’t want the teenagers to end up finding something that they might take that will make them feel sick.
