Staff members found cannabis by the locker rooms

A few afternoons ago I received a cell phone call from 1 of the staff members at the community center I manage.

This was after hours and I was truly surprised by the call.

I felt there might be a legit emergency, so I answered our task cellphone. The call came from 1 of the security officers. This security officer had been patrolling the grounds of the community center and stumbled across a small bucket full of cannabis located by the locker room doors. The bucket of cannabis was not from a legit local dealership. It was packaged in the same bucket that had come directly from a marijuana dispensary. I informed the security officer to bring the cannabis product to our office the next day. I contacted the cannabis dispensary that sold the product however they would not supply me any information about this guy. I decided to hand over the evidence to the local police department. The police department rep asked about the staff members that found the bucket of marijuana. They wanted to bring the dude in for questioning. When I told the security officer, he agreed to go down to the police station a couple of afternoons later. The officers never contacted the security officer about the marijuana. Clearly they aren’t taking the concern seriously. If I had called them because of vandalism or a break-in, would they still be moving so slowly to catch the offender? I have hundreds of students here every single afternoon after school and I take cannabis use as seriously as I would alcohol or any other drug. I don’t want any young men to end up finding something that they might take that will make them sick.
