A few blocks from my childhood beach apartment there was a Cantina that always had tacos on Tuesdays for a cheap price.
The place has regularly been there for fifty or sixty years. It is easily a single of the oldest restaurants that are in this city. My first job as a teenager was actually waiting on some tables near the bar. The people I was with in addition to myself walked from our beach apartment back to the place. When I applied, I quickly found out that the place was going to be closing down soon because they were turning it into a cannabis dispensary. I decided to apply for a job at the dispensary and I was extremely happy. After I came back to the beach apartment, I found out my parents were Furious. They were unhappy that a weed shop was going to replace the old Taco Stand. They were all so upset that I wanted to work there. They made everything sound like I was going to be a drug dealer. That cannabis shop was 100% legal. I absolutely did not see things that way and made it impossible for me to work at the dispensary. I did not end up with the job due to the fact that I was not 21 years of age, but I still thought it could have been fun. It’s clear to all of us that things will change and then there will be laws that will allow recreational marijuana into the state and there is nothing that my mom into dad can do to stop that from happening.
