I wasn’t quite sure that I would live to see the day when I could actually walk into a marijuana business.
But now, I’m able to stroll down the street a few blocks and do just that at the local cannabis spot.
It still astounds me every time I take this trip. And it is indeed a trip when you consider what it took just to get a bag of cannabis back in the day. The region I lived in wasn’t exactly awash in weed. I had learned about and experimented with recreational marijuana when I was away at college. However, I came back for a job in my home region, settled down and didn’t leave. It’s sort of a small town life but I still very much enjoy recreational marijuana as did my wife. But getting our hands on it was not easy and not all that safe either. We didn’t know a marijuana grower so that option was out. And knowing a marijuana grower would have made things just so much simpler. But in that region at that time, marijuana growers weren’t exactly advertising that’s for sure. More often than not we’d get a name from a friend of a friend. Then it was all stealth action to get a bag of marijuana that we had no idea about. We didn’t know if it was sativa, indica or some sort of hybrid strain. And forget about having any clue when it came to the THC content. That was just out. So just taking a stroll and spending a half our perusing the aisles of the local cannabis spot comes with a lot of thankfulness.
