My grandmother turned me into a chocolate fanatic before I was old enough to attend school.
She was my primary babysitter whenever my parents were out of the house or busy for whatever reason.
Despite their pleas, she constantly rewarded me with delicious chocolate candies whenever I saw her. Between the chocolate and the donuts she was feeding me, I was quickly putting on excess weight that would take decades for me to get rid of. Once you start bad eating habits at an early age, it’s hard to reverse them by simply starting a diet. Even though I have lost most of my excess weight, I haven’t kicked my chocolate addiction. Although I won’t buy candy everytime I leave the house, some days it’s a struggle to stop myself from doing it. The worst temptation came when the marijauana dispensaries started selling chocolate cannabis edibles a few months back. We went through several years of having no access to cannabis edibles due to the strict laws imposed by the state. When they were suddenly available for purchase at local marijuana stores, I was surprised. It wasn’t even something that was announced ahead of time; one day there were no edibles, and then the next day there were cookies, brownies, chocolates, and gummy candies. Since I’m such a huge chocolate addict, I had to hold back from wanting to eat the entire chocolate bar in one sitting. I ended up eating half and feeling extremely intoxicated for six hours straight. I love the new chocolate cannabis edibles, but I don’t know if I can practice self control when I have them in the house.
