Once they passed the law that legalized medical marijuana, we totally knew that recreational marijuana legalization wasn’t super far away.
I lived in a community that grumbled at the words marijuana, cannabis, pot, or joint. They seemed to have the belief that it was a sin to even divulge you knew what it was. After medical marijuana was legalized, I knew the next step was going to be marijuana dispensaries. I genuinely never expected to have a medical cannabis dispensary in our community. When I found out they were putting a cannabis dispensary on our block, I was totally shocked. I couldn’t easily believe that our ultra-conservative community would allow a cannabis dispensary to be built in our area; even if it happened to be medical marijuana. I could see the cannabis dispensary from my apartment. The ability to see the cannabis dispensary essentially meant that I could also see the people coming plus going. Every time I saw one of our self-righteous community dwellers enter the dispensary, I would laugh a little bit. These were some of the same people who used to preach that marijuana was a sin plus that it was a downfall of civilization. One afternoon, I was peering out the window while studying plus I knew I knew the man making his way into the dispensary, although I couldn’t truly make out his face. He had his hat down over his face. When the wind easily hit him just right, I began to laugh a great deal. My roommate came into the room plus looked outside. He picked up the iPhone plus reached out to his mom. He told him she was never going to assume who he saw going into the marijuana dispensary. He nudged me as he told his it was the town’s mayor. I could hear her totally squeal, plus knew the entire community was going to think this was insane.
