Announcements from the companies dated March 4 framed the merger as a joining of forces in roasting, national distribution, and beverage equipment and service.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2026\/03\/05\/royal-cup-moves-to-acquire-farmer-brothers-in-all-cash-deal\/roasted-coffee-56\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-194992\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-194992\" src=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/roasted-coffee.jpg\" alt=\"roasted coffee\" width=\"1240\" height=\"827\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/roasted-coffee.jpg 1240w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/roasted-coffee-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/roasted-coffee-620x414.jpg 620w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/roasted-coffee-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/roasted-coffee-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1240px) 100vw, 1240px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a transformational and strategic step, which we believe materially strengthens our competitive position and advances our long-term growth strategy,&#8221; Royal Cup President and CEO Chip Wann said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1896, Royal Cup says it offers &#8220;one of the nation&#8217;s most extensive food service and office coffee route delivery systems,&#8221; while also maintaining coffee sourcing, roasting and packing operations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Farmer Brothers, which operated for more than a century in California before <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2017\/05\/04\/farmer-bros-unveils-massive-new-texas-headquarters\/\">relocating to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex<\/a>, has operated as a national roaster, wholesaler, equipment service provider and distributor for numerous business segments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the company sold its Texas coffee production and distribution facility to Illinois-based TreeHouse Foods for $100 million.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Farmer Brothers also owns other consumer and B2B coffee brands including: Boyd&#8217;s Coffee, which it <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2017\/08\/22\/portland-roasting-giant-boyds-being-acquired-by-farmer-bros-for-approximately-58-6m\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acquired in 2017<\/a>; West Coast Coffee, which it <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2017\/02\/10\/farmer-brothers-completes-13-5-million-acquisition-of-west-coast-coffee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acquired in 2017<\/a>; and the in-house Sum&gt;One specialty coffee brand, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2025\/03\/11\/b2b-specialist-farmer-brothers-launches-sumone-coffee-brand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched last year<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"55\" data-end=\"566\">Farmer Brothers enters this deal after mixed financial results in recent years. In the company\u2019s most recent full fiscal year, ended June 30, 2025, net sales were essentially flat at $342.3 million. Gross margin improved and adjusted EBITDA rose to $14.8 million, although the company still posted a net loss of $14.5 million.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"55\" data-end=\"566\">Results weakened in the first half of fiscal year 2026.
