Bloomberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-03-04\/luckin-coffee-backer-centurium-is-said-to-be-in-advanced-talks-for-blue-bottle\">reported on March 4<\/a> that the Chinese investment firm was in &#8220;advanced talks&#8221; to acquire the chain, citing &#8220;people familiar with the situation.&#8221; In what it described as an &#8220;exclusive,&#8221; Chinese news outlet 36Kr said the <a href=\"https:\/\/eu.36kr.com\/en\/p\/3708291149148288\">&#8220;less than $400 million&#8221; deal includes Blue Bottle&#8217;s global coffee shop business<\/a>, but Nestl\u00e9 would retain Blue Bottle&#8217;s consumer goods business, including packaged coffee, instant coffee and ready-to-drink products.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>None of the companies involved have publicly confirmed a transaction. Daily Coffee News has reached out to Nestl\u00e9, Blue Bottle and Centurium seeking comment.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nestl\u00e9&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2017\/09\/14\/nestle-acquires-majority-stake-in-blue-bottle-coffee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acquired a majority stake in California-born Blue Bottle Coffee in 2017<\/a> in a <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/4942170\/blue-bottle-coffee-nestle-stock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deal worth approximately $425 million<\/a>, valuing the company at more than $700 million.&nbsp;The deal sent shockwaves through the specialty coffee world, continuing a trend toward big-money consolidation in craft-focused or <a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/ser\/article-abstract\/19\/1\/111\/5584302?login=false\">\u201cThird Wave\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;specialty coffee.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to numerous credible reports, Nestl\u00e9 began <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2025\/12\/02\/nestle-reportedly-exploring-sale-of-blue-bottle-coffee\/\">exploring the sale<\/a> of Blue Bottle Coffee last year, enlisting an investment bank to review options. Nestl\u00e9 marketing materials say there are currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nestle.com\/brands\/coffee\/blue-bottle-coffee\">more than 100 Blue Bottle cafes<\/a> across the United States and Asia. As of December 2025, Blue Bottle had 78 U.S. locations alone.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_194959\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" ><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2026\/03\/04\/luckin-shareholder-centurium-reportedly-ready-to-acquire-blue-bottle\/luckin-coffee-5\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-194959\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-194959\" src=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Luckin-Coffee.jpg\" alt=\"Luckin Coffee\" width=\"1240\" height=\"827\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Luckin-Coffee.jpg 1240w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Luckin-Coffee-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Luckin-Coffee-620x414.jpg 620w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Luckin-Coffee-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Luckin-Coffee-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1240px) 100vw, 1240px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Luckin Coffee has grown to more than 30,000 locations globally.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Centurium and affiliated entities became the largest shareholder group in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centurium.com\/en\/press-en\/consortium-led-by-centurium-capital-acquires-stake-in-luckin-coffee-through-secondary-purchase\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chinese chain Luckin Coffee in 2022<\/a>, after the chain agreed in 2020 to pay a $180 million penalty to settle charges brought by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission alleging company executives <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2020\/04\/02\/luckin-coffee-coo-fabricated-310-million-in-sales-company-finds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">conspired to fabricate more than $300 million in sales<\/a> to appease investors.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, Luckin has grown at breakneck speed, reporting 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/investor.luckincoffee.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/luckin-coffee-announces-fourth-quarter-and-fiscal-year-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revenue of about $7.03 billion<\/a>.
