All images courtesy of Mill City Roasters.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async=\"\" defer=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/proxy.beyondwords.io\/npm\/@beyondwords\/player@latest\/dist\/umd.js\" onload=\"new BeyondWords.Player({ target: this, projectId: 50015, contentId: '5f853341-c87c-4581-816b-454fb25a86e4' })\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Minneapolis-based <a href=\"https:\/\/millcityroasters.com\/\">Mill City Roasters<\/a> recently unveiled its new flagship <a href=\"https:\/\/millcityroasters.com\/products\/m-series-coffee-roasters\">M-Series line of coffee roasters<\/a>, available in 6-kilogram, 10-kilogram and 20-kilogram capacities.<\/p>\n<p>The new line reflects a massive undertaking behind the scenes at Mill City Roasters, where fabrication has been brought in-house at the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2024\/09\/17\/mill-city-roasters-moving-into-massive-new-hq-in-ne-minneapolis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">company&#8217;s new 40,000-square-foot headquarters in Northeast Minneapolis<\/a>. The company says it now fabricates more than 400 unique components per roaster using in-house laser cutting, forming, welding and CNC machining.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Having our own production facility 40 steps away from our designers and engineers makes everything seem possible,&#8221; Mill City Roasters Vice President Angie Davis told Daily Coffee News. &#8220;This type of in-house capability is going to lead to product lines and problem solving we haven\u2019t even considered. It\u2019s an exciting time at Mill City Roasters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Mill City Roasters M-Series<\/h3>\n<p>Mill City is positioning the M-Series as a bridge between traditional hands-on commercial drum roasting and increasingly automated production.<\/p>\n<p>A signature feature of the new machines is a &#8220;monolithic chassis,&#8221; a laser-welded plate steel construction designed to act as a &#8220;thermal battery&#8221; that can store and predictably release heat, allowing roasts to rely more on latent energy and less on applied burner heat, according to Davis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2026\/02\/17\/mill-city-roasters-unveils-m-series-machines-with-in-house-fabrication\/m-series-roaster-mill-city-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-194574\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-194574\" src=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-2.jpg\" alt=\"M-Series Roaster Mill City 2\" width=\"1240\" height=\"1240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-2.jpg 1240w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-2-620x620.jpg 620w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-2-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1240px) 100vw, 1240px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The machines also feature shaftless double-walled drums, with the outer wall evenly diffusing the burner heat to prevent conductive heat defects in the inner drum.<\/p>\n<p>Additional physical features within the new line include a new fan output for flexibility in venting, a new layout to optimize operator controls for standing or sitting and a redesigned cooling tray. The company is also offering multiple trim packages, plus custom colors and branding.<\/p>\n<p>On the technology and automation side, the new series introduces a new interface with <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2023\/12\/15\/mill-city-roasters-launches-roastpath-software-and-sharing-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mill City&#8217;s built-in RoastPath software<\/a> and a haptic jog wheel for intuitive, tactile controls. Optional automated fan, fuel and drum speed settings with sophisticated feedback loops connect to the RoastPath software.<\/p>\n<p>Within that software package is the <a href=\"https:\/\/roastpath.com\/pages\/path-intelligence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Path Intelligence roast profiling tool<\/a>, which provides access to more than 610,000 roast profiles and offers predictive profiles based on factors such as coffee origin, post-harvest processing and finish temperature.<\/p>\n<h3>On-Shoring Manufacturing Amid New Tariffs<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"5427\" data-end=\"5656\">While on-shoring manufacturing had been a priority at Mill City for years, Davis said new tariffs and threats of new tariffs on U.S. imports under the second term of the Trump administration &#8220;lit a fire under us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What was unexpected was the scale and swiftness of disruption,&#8221; Davis said. &#8220;Our entire industry was getting squeezed on everything from green coffee to cup sleeves and in a sad way, that helped. Everyone in the industry understood exactly what was happening so we could talk transparently about how tariffs affected us and the cost of our equipment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/2026\/02\/17\/mill-city-roasters-unveils-m-series-machines-with-in-house-fabrication\/m-series-roaster-mill-city-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-194575\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-194575\" src=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-3.jpg\" alt=\"M-Series Roaster Mill City 3\" width=\"620\" height=\"620\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-3.jpg 620w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-3-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dailycoffeenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/M-Series-Roaster-Mill-City-3-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Davis said Mill City has already logged orders from roughly two dozen early customers, and the company is developing internal programs to connect prospective M-Series buyers with secondhand buyers for older \u201clegacy\u201d Mill City roasters.<\/p>\n<p>For buyers in the U.S. and Canada, the Mill City Roasters website currently lists pre-order prices for the base 6-, 10- and 20-kilogram M-Series roasters at $34,800, $42,800 and $64,800.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3196\" data-end=\"3364\">Looking ahead, Davis said Mill City expects to begin fabrication of additional M-Series sizes, including 3-kilogram and 30-kilogram versions, by the end of this summer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3366\" data-end=\"3481\">Mill City said the new M-Series line will be featured at <a href=\"https:\/\/usa.worldofcoffee.org\/world-of-coffee-san-diego-2026\">World of Coffee San Diego<\/a>, taking place April 10-12, 2026.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p data-start=\"3366\" data-end=\"3481\"><em>Comments?
