2025 was an exceptionally weird year to start a coffee roasting business in the United States.
Coffee prices were already elevated, pushed by climate change, labor constraints, higher production costs and other pressures. Then came the Trump administration’s capricious tariffs, throwing new uncertainty into green coffee buying and selling, with ripple effects that reached everything from roastery equipment to packaging and other basics.
At the same time, as many households across the United States tightened their belts, the threat of of slower sales of high-quality specialty coffee has lingered.
And yet, from coast to coast, coffee people pushed forward with their best-laid plans, blazing into business with courage and optimism, betting that consumers’ undying love for freshly roasted coffee will conquer all.
Across the country, new roasters introduced coffees sourced with care, roasted with precision and packaged with personality. Here are 26 new roasters to support in 2026.
