Pachamama Coffee Achieves Regenerative Organic Certification
Farmer-owned brand Pachamama Coffee announced its Peru and Machu Picchu coffees are now Regenerative Organic Certified, a designation overseen by the nonprofit Regenerative Organic Alliance. The company tied the milestone to its farmer-owned model and cooperative partner COCLA in Peru’s Cusco region.
Intelligentsia Plans First-Ever Drive-Through Shop in LA
Intelligentsia Coffee says it is preparing its first drive-through concept at a forthcoming Santa Monica coffee bar at 3010 Pico Blvd. The company is describing the shop, which would be its fifth in the Los Angeles area, as an “innovative drive-thru specialty coffee experience” within a “restored historic A-frame.” The building formerly housed a Wienerschnitzel hot dog shop.
IWCA Names New Board President and Vice President
The International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) announced it has appointed Emily Bollinger as president and Shelby Colley as vice president of its global board of directors. Bollinger succeeds Sharon Reichers in the president role.
Global Coffee Platform Opens 2026 Review of Sustainability Reference Code
The Global Coffee Platform (GCP) announced it is reviewing its Coffee Sustainability Reference Code and Equivalence Mechanism this year to ensure the tools’ continued relevance, credibility and clarity. Both tools are used to provide baseline sustainability targets for large coffee companies.
Vietnam Police Seize 4.1 Metric Tons of Alleged Fake Coffee in Lam Dong
Vietnamese police said they seized 4.1 metric tons of alleged counterfeit coffee products and 3 metric tons of raw materials in a warehouse raid in Lam Dong province. Authorities said the case followed the discovery of 1,056 undocumented bags of ground coffee weighing 528 kilograms being transported by truck, while the warehouse owner allegedly admitted mixing soybeans and flavorings with coffee beans for local sales, according to a Reuters report.
DoubleShot’s Brian Franklin Releases ‘The Coffee Purist’ Book
Tulsa, Oklahoma-based DoubleShot Coffee owner Brian Franklin has released The Coffee Purist, a 432-page hardcover book blending memoir with coffee education and commentary on the industry. A Kickstarter for pre-orders of the book generated more than $25,000.
Kansas City ‘Death Cafe’ Meets Monthly
A Kansas City “Death Cafe” hosted at Crows Coffee in the Waldo neighborhood invites adults to discuss death and mortality in a facilitated, non-therapy setting, according to an Axios report.
Stumptown Coffee Closing its Second-Ever Portland Cafe
Stumptown Coffee Roasters said its Southeast Belmont cafe in Portland will close Feb. 28, 2026, citing the cost of refurbishing the interior. “This cafe has meant so much to us and to the Portland community, so sharing this news is incredibly difficult,” the company announced on Instagram. The shop has been open since 2001.
Haleiwa’s Coffee Gallery to Close After Nearly Four Decades
Coffee Gallery on Oahu’s North Shore has closed after nearly 40 years in business, according to multiple reports. The coffee shop and roastery opened in Haleiwa’s North Shore Marketplace in October 1987.
ACE and Qima Launch Ecuador Farmer’s Collection Private Collection Auction
Qima Coffee and the Alliance for Coffee Excellence have launched the Ecuador Farmer’s Collection as a new Private Collection Auction series, with ACE listing the auction date as March 26, 2026. ACE said the program is built around smallholder coffees from across Ecuador’s producing regions.
