A new dual-cone manual pourover brewer called the Binocular Dripper is launching for sale this week through Dubai-based retailer Brewing Gadgets.
The dripper, which officially launched at last weekend’s World of Coffee Dubai trade show, is sold under the Precise brand and was developed by UAE champion barista Mariam Erin.
Designed around what Brewing Gadgets calls “wet blending,” the Binocular Dripper uses two tall, narrow brew cones, each at a 30-degree angle. Each side can be brewed independently with different coffees, doses and pour patterns, with the combined brew collected in the included server.
The cones are compatible with Hario V60 02-style paper filters, with each accommodating a small dose of 6 to 12 grams of coffee.
Erin, who won bronze at the 2023 Specialty Coffee Association World Cezve/Ibrik Championship and has won multiple UAE Brewers, Barista and Coffee In Good Spirits awards, told Daily Coffee News that the dual-cone setup makes it possible to execute two different recipes on two different coffees at once, with the immediate merge designed to capture aromatics, acids and sugars at peak heat and volatility.
“Blending during brewing is not just about convenience,” said Erin. “It allows thermal, chemical and sensory interactions to happen at the moment they matter most, producing a more unified and expressive cup than post-brew blending.”
Born in the Philippines and now a UAE resident of nearly a decade, Erin works with Brewing Gadgets on coffee content, workshops and media, according to the retailer. Erin told DCN she began experimenting with the Binocular brewer concept in 2022, including a 3D-printed prototype used in competition, with the production version finalized in early 2025.
As the exclusive retailer of Precise brand equipment, Brewing Gadgets is selling a set that includes the dripper, a server and filter paper for 195 UAE dirhams (about $53). Deliveries are listed as beginning Jan. 18. Units are currently shipping in Asia as the company’s search for additional global distribution partners, including in the United States, continues.
“The Binocular Dripper solves a fundamental limitation in brewing. Different coffees require different recipes,” said Erin. “Whether in competition, home brewing or a cafe setting, it gives brewers more flexibility to explore new flavor spectrums through blending.”
