The inaugural Portland Coffee Festival is fast approaching, coming Saturday, Oct. 4, to The Redd on Salmon Street in Portland, Oregon.
Produced by Roast magazine, the festival will immediately follow the industry-focused Roast Summit, taking place Oct. 2-3.

PORTLAND, Ore. (September 10, 2025) — The inaugural Portland Coffee Festival, sponsored by Pacific Foods, will debut on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, offering a full day of interactive education, tastings and community celebration. Organized by Roast magazine, the festival highlights Portland’s reputation as a global coffee hub by bringing together producers, roasters, baristas and enthusiasts for experiences that connect coffee from seed to cup.
In addition to a vibrant community marketplace in the main hall filled with vendors showcasing their craft, the event will include a variety of educational and tasting opportunities as well.
Festival Experiences & Tastings
The festival will feature unique experiences designed to engage all the senses:
- Kann Coffee Pop-Up – culinary creativity from Kann Coffee with coffee-inspired bites.
- Latte Art & Signature Drinks – with Morgan Eckroth, 2022 U.S. Barista Champion.
- Roaster of the Year Coffee Tasting – a curated tasting with past award-winning roasters.
- Coffee Processing Methods Tasting – flavor exploration of various approaches to coffee processing.
- Afternoon Beverages – beer, cider and wine available outdoors to round out the day.
Festival Education Program
The festival’s education track will feature diverse voices across the coffee value chain, blending cultural conversations, scientific insights and hands-on learning:
- Coffee, Culture & Collaboration Roundtable – Joseph Stazzone (Café Kreyol), Ian Williams (Deadstock Coffee), and Tyson Vanich-Angkul (Kann Coffee) explore how identity, collaboration and creativity shape the future of coffee and community.
- Decaffeination Lecture – Mike Strumpf (Swiss Water) presents fresh research with Zurich University of Applied Sciences on roasting, extraction and flavor differences in decaf.
- Coffee and Single Malt Lecture and Tasting – Mark Stell (Portland Coffee Roasters, Tanzania Coffee, and Bird Creek Distillery) hosts a guided exploration of the surprising parallels between coffee and barley.
- Meet the Producers Panel – Illiana Delgado Chegwin (D Cacao Coffee), Augusto Carneiro (Nossa Familia Coffee), and others share firsthand insights into farming, processing and sustainability.
- Coffee Processing Methods Lecture and Tasting – Scott Merle (Hacienda La Minita) guides attendees through washed, natural, honey and experimental processing methods, paired with tastings to illustrate their impact on flavor and body.
